6th Grade Band

6th grade band meets every afternoon for 35 minutes, where they work on fundamental of playing and prepare for performances. Throughout the year, 6th graders will have numerous performances, including concerts and solo contest. ​
Performances
Homecoming Football Game
6th grade students will perform at homecoming before the football game on the track. They will memorize their music and learn how to play standing up.

The Informance

The Informance is an informational performance. The goal is to provide students an early year performance experience while also providing parents with the information they need to raise a successful musician.

The Winter Concert
The Winter concert is the first major performance of the year. Students perform selections from their method book, as well as concert band music.

Solo Contest

During their lesson,s students prepare a solo and learn how to play by themselves and with an accompanist. They will perform their solo in front of a judge and family and friends at Canton High School.

The District Wide Pops Concert
The pops concert features all of the band ensembles in grades 5-12. 

All State Band and All State Jazz Band
Beginning in 6th grade, students can try out for middle school all-state band. This requires students to learn three scales and two etudes and then send in recordings of their audition to be judged with all other students in the state. If students are selected, they will get the honor of playing in the all state band.
